Class of 2020 Athletes to receive SportsAid Awards
NELSONS ANNOUNCES CLASS OF 2020 ATHLETES TO RECEIVE SPORTSAID AWARDS
Nelsons is supporting 20 of the most talented young British athletes through SportsAid for the second consecutive year. Nelsons, one of the world’s leading - and Europe’s longest established - manufacturers of natural healthcare products, provides the next generation of sports stars with financial assistance, recognition and personal development opportunities.
The partnership sees the athletes receive an annual award of £1,000 to contribute towards costs such as travel, accommodation and equipment. The athletes being supported by Nelsons in 2020 stretch across 11 sporting disciplines. They are among the country’s brightest prospects having been nominated to SportsAid by their sport’s national governing bodies.
Claire Ferguson, CEO of Nelsons, said: “It’s a real privilege to be able to continue to support these talented young people, particularly this year against the backdrop of COVID-19 which has challenged us all in so many ways. Their tenacity and drive to remain focussed on their goals is truly inspiring and a life lesson for us all. They have amazing resilience, agility and mental toughness to get them through and we are delighted to be able to help them on their incredible journey as they fulfil their sporting potential.”
Nelsons is a privately-owned business, inspiring generations to live healthier, happier lives, with a long-standing commitment to supplying the highest quality products meeting all regulatory and quality standards. Nelsons prides itself on top-level customer service with a portfolio of brands, including RESCUE® range, BachTM Original Flower Remedies and Spatone®, selling in over 70 countries.
One of the integral aspects of the partnership is the Champions scheme where members of Nelsons follow the progress of the athletes - supporting them and passing on news of their achievements - while imparting important life-skills for the young sports stars to help them in their athletic careers and beyond.
Tim Lawler, SportsAid’s Chief Executive, said: “We are very pleased to announce the latest cohort of athletes to be supported by Nelsons - the class of 2020. The incredible uniqueness of this year so far, with its many challenges and uncertainties, has shown how important it is to recognise commitment, to adapt and respond to events and to offer help where you can. In Nelsons, SportsAid has a long-standing partner willing to do all of these things. Their continued support of emerging, talented young sports people is both welcome and inspiring - leadership by example, in a tough time.”
Nelsons has enjoyed a number of successes stories with SportsAid. Most notably, para triathlete Hannah Moore, a two-time ITU world champion, is a previous beneficiary while para long jumper Karim Chan, who won gold at the World Para Athletics Junior Championships in 2019, continues to receive support.
