Nelsons UK SportsAid 2021 Athletes 1400x420

Class of 2021 Athletes To Recieve SportsAid Awards

For the third consecutive year, Nelsons is supporting 20 of the most talented young British athletes, through SportsAid. Nelsons, one of the world’s leading — and Europe’s longest established — manufacturers of natural healthcare products, provides the next generation of sports stars with financial backing and personal development opportunities to help them fulfill their potential.

The partnership sees athletes receive an annual award of £1,000 to contribute towards costs such as travel, accommodation and equipment. The athletes supported by Nelsons in 2021 stretch across 10 sporting disciplines. They are among the country’s brightest prospects, having been nominated to SportsAid by the national governing bodies of their respective sports.

Simon Rickatson, Group Corporate Services Director of Nelsons, said: “We have been involved with SportsAid for a number of years now and it is real privilege to support these young, aspiring athletes, many of whom we have watched grow and develop since we first started providing financial awards back in 2019. Of course, last year was particularly challenging given the restrictions in place. Athletes have had to adapt training at home and the cancellation of many major sporting fixtures and competitions worldwide. Despite all of this, their grit and determination to remain focused has shone through and I am sure that 2021 will bring much success to these young people as they pursue their goals. I look forward to seeing their progress and hopefully we can celebrate with them in person!”

Nelsons is a privately-owned business, inspiring generations to live healthier, happier lives, with a long-standing commitment to supplying the highest quality products meeting all regulatory and quality standards. Nelsons prides itself on top-level customer service with a portfolio of brands, including the Rescue® range, Bach® Original Flower Remedies and Spatone® Liquid Iron, selling in over 70 countries.

One of the most integral aspects of the partnership between Nelsons and SportsAid is how members of Nelsons’ staff maintain contact with the athletes as they follow their progress — supporting them and passing on news of their achievements — while imparting important life-skills for the young sports stars to help them both in their athletic careers and beyond.

Tim Lawler, SportsAid’s Chief Executive, said: “Announcing the athletes to be supported by Nelsons in 2021 feels really good. To be able to do so, despite everything we’ve all had to cope with in the last year, is testament to everyone involved — the athletes, their families, the various national governing bodies of sport and our partners at Nelsons. It perhaps shows that we really are all in this together, helping who and where we can. We’re very proud of the way SportsAid has been able to continue to support young athletes and their families during such uncertain times and we’ve only been able to achieve that with the help of our great partners and supporters. In Nelsons, we have a committed, loyal, caring and curious partner that is helping us to make a difference to young people at a challenging time in their development. Thank you.”

Nelsons has enjoyed a number of successes stories with SportsAid since the partnership began. Most notably, para triathlete Hannah Moore, a two-time ITU world champion, and para long jumper Karim Chan, who won gold at the World Para Athletics Junior Championships in 2019, are both previous beneficiaries. 14 athletes from the 2020 cohort are continuing to be supported by Nelsons this year.
